Grace Mary Mugasa

Mayor at Hoima Municipality in Uganda

MUGASA GRACE MARY is the Mayor of Hoima Municipality in Uganda.
She was born in Hoima, Western Uganda and has a lot of passion for Gender equality and a green and clean environment.
Grace Mary holds a Masters degree in Development Studies and a Bachelors in Democracy and Developments Studies of Uganda Martyrs University. She holds two Diplomas in Principles of Modern Management and Sales Management and Marketing of the College of Professional Management (UK). She holds a Certificate in Capacity Building for Local Political Leaders from the ICLD, the Swedish Centre for International Development and a Certificate on Gender Mainstreaming in Local Governance from Israel – MASHAV Golda Meir Centre Mt Carmel.
She has served as Councillor Hoima Town Council for 10 years (2001-2011) and chaired the Water Board for three years. She has also served as Board member on various Boards: HOFOKAM Ltd (a microfinance company); Communications Board of Hoima Catholic Diocese; Millennium Business School; St. Andrea Kaahwa’s College; Kitara Secondary School.
Her areas of competence include among others: political and social leadership; Gender mainstreaming and community development, training women entrepreneurs.
She is an ardent promoter of transformational leadership, sustainable development, agro-forestry and animal husbandry. She is highly self-motivated, honest and consistent person.
Grace Mary is married to Aloysius Mugasa Adyeri, an Administrative Specialist and Managing Director of Uganda Kolping Society. She is a mother of four sons and a guardian to a score orphans and helper of vulnerable children and mothers.
She supports the establishment of strong families, excellent workmanship, good citizenship, responsible participation in society, Church and State work and strictly promotes principled leadership.
